Brands can pay for findings from the research panel, across many people with nobody's identity in them. We do not sell your data.

Yes, if you are on the panel. Signing in puts you on it, on the website and in the iOS app; the sentence above the sign-in buttons says so. We run a paid research panel: each week you run a recent Instagram export and answer questions about the ads and advertisers it found. It opened on September 10, 2026. Places are limited by a panel cap and a budget, so joining is open only while there is room.

A week pays $3 for the study, which is a verified recent export and that week's questions together. Each ad you grade after your weekly export also pays $1, up to two ads a week, on the website and in the iOS app alike. So on the website it is $3 every week, plus $1 for each ad you grade, up to two a week: up to $5 a week. The app’s weekly bonus was switched off on October 9, 2026, so a week done in the iOS app now pays the same as on the website. You cash out by PayPal or Tremendous.

It is optional, and you can leave whenever you want. No brand ever receives your identity, your saved report or your profile. What a brand can receive is what you answered, including the text of a voice note, with your name, email, handle and anything else that could identify you removed first, and always alongside how many people answered. The rules are in privacy policy section 11 and terms section 7.

In Instagram, go to Settings, Accounts Center, "Your information and permissions," then "Export your information."

That is a question for Meta. Opt2In is not a tool for recovering deleted DMs.

Yes, when your export carries your full follower list. Your Instagram data download already contains both lists, the accounts you follow and the accounts that follow you. Opt2In compares them inside your own browser and shows you who does not follow you back, who follows you without a follow back, and how many of you follow each other, with a search box and a link to every profile. No login, no password, nothing uploaded, and it is free. It is one card inside the same report that shows which advertisers paid to reach you.

One honest limit. Meta's export does not always carry your full follower list: some exports hold only the people who followed you in the last few weeks, and an export requested for a date range holds only that range. A comparison on a list like that would call real followers non-followers, so the report checks the list first and says so instead of showing a wrong one. A fresh export often carries the full list. An account that renamed itself or was deactivated since your export can also appear on the list, so tap a name to check it.
